Afghan Women’s Network Press Release in connection to Women’s International Day 

 Progress Indicator: Sustainable Empowerment of the Afghan Women in Development and Peace

 Afghan Women’s Network with continuation of its Advocacy programs, this time 8th March Women’s solidarity Day is celebrating under slogan of Progress Indicator: Sustainable Empowerment of the Afghan Women in Development and Peace.
 As researches and experiences show that women presence and role is prerequisites important for well-adjusted development, gender equality and sustainable peace, therefor women participation in access to political and economic development and also women empowerment in the development and peace like in other countries is crucial in Afghanistan 
 Today for the realization of social development, accelerating of the process of economic development and social justice in the country, women participation as the active and constructive force in governmental and non-governmental bodies is the major requirement. 
 Hence, improvement of women’s situation is among the basic requirements of the government for strengthening of women in the country development and peace building, without consideration of women’s situation, development and improvement in the country is impossible. 
 But unfortunately, despite of continues efforts and working for women political, social and cultural participation in Afghanistan, still efforts to draw and marginalized their presence at all levels in the country, While the presence of women in all spheres , in addition to being a legal and human rights of women, also deemed imperative and necessary.
 Although the National Unity Government promised for women's rights and issues such as increasing women's political participation, access to economic rights and the like has been done, but these measures are not sufficient to solve the problems of women,
 To this aim, the Afghan Women’s Network organized a national conference with attending women activists from 34 different provinces in order to assess women situation and current problems. The key demands of the conference are as below.
• Increase women’s access to education in all over Afghanistan. 
• Provide Social Protection for Women in all over Afghanistan 
•  Women presence in all spheres of political, economic, cultural and social level based on governmental laws and commitments on the national and international levels.
•  Equally implementation of rules and regulations that have been imposed on the realization and protection of women's rights.
•  Bringing to justice the perpetrators of public violence, especially in unforgettably case of martyr Farkhonda.
•  Provide opportunities of the projects in the field of welfare and social accountability of the private sectors, and support of these projects through government from (SOCIAL COOERATE RESPONSIILITY
•  Implementation of the plan to establish a Trust Fund box for support of victims of violence which was opened by the President a year ago.
