Shafiqa Habibi

Shafiqa Habibi is one of the prominent women right activists, a professional and experienced journalist and a laureate TV and radio speaker. She has been also a skillful teacher in art of speaking, fluency and speech with five most important national awards, medals and sign of pride in journalism in five different regimes.

She has also got the international award of IDA B.WELLS   BRAVERY IN JOURNALISM in USA. Additionally Shafiqa Habibi attained the prideful award of one of the (21 LEADERS FOR THE 21ST CENTRY), GALA, in New York City of USA in 21st May 2002, after the decision of jury team. Mrs. Habibi explains her past activities in this way: “In addition to radio News speaker on 8:30 pm I was also working as teacher of methods and basics of speaking for new announcers. Also I was in charge of women journalist union of Radio, TV and Afghan film. While emergence of Taliban regime everything gone to stealth and silence. At that time on 1999 I established a female Association of tailoring and handicraft for those girls who could not go to schools”.

Later in 2002 this Association called New Afghanistan Women Association NAWA. 

She designed the projects for NAWA, which protects the rights of women and change the mentality  of men to believe the dignity and liberty of women.  From 2007, she produced 250 TV programs and 100 Radio programs and spots which were broadcasted by Afghanistan TV and Radios. Also NAWA implemented several awareness   raising and advocacy programs in villages for men and women about violence against women.
