Kabul – Afghanistan

The Afghan people wants continuation of ceasefire and immediate start of intra-Afghan peace talks!

Considering the Taliban ceasefire for three days of Eid-Ul Adha, and that the Afghan government embraced it, Afghan people, women embrace ceasefire, even if it happens for one hour. Because, Afghan people, and mothers cannot see killing, torture, and public hanging of their children anymore.

Mothers of this country as responsible citizens and huge part of this society wants the continuation of ceasefire and immediate start of intra-Afghan peace talks.

women in particular, despite welcoming any delay in warfare and declaration of a ceasefire for protecting at least loss of one citizen, are concerned about the acceleration of conflict and increase in causalities, taking notice of the previous ceasefire.

People of Afghanistan have witnessed how the violence was intensified after the three daya of ceasefire in Eid-Ul Fitr, and since then, attacks on security and military bases, target killings, killings of youths, women, activists, and attacks on civilian establishments, religious places, and clerics got increased… the victim to all these are Afghan people.

According to recent UN reports, we had 3,458 civilian causalities/losses merely in six months of 2020 (1282 dead, 2176 wounded), all were perpetrated by the Taliban and Afghan forces’ airstrikes. Based on this report, the Afghan conflict remains one of the most fatal conflict for civilians in this whole world.

We call upon the international community, Islamic countries, and regional countries to help and support the continuation of ceasefire, and to encourage Taliban for intra-Afghan peace talks.

For the Afghan nation, ceasefire is not only a wish, it’s an urgent necessity.

On the other hand, due to the outbreak of Covid19, poverty has reached its peak. People doesn’t have access to information, health facilities, and necessary tools. Afghan people are moving towards self-destruction from both ways “conflict and outbreak of Covid-19”.

We call upon both sides (the government and the Taliban) to embrace the voice of nation and with a strong will for peace, perpetuate the ongoing ceasefire and strive for initiating the intra-Afghan peace talks, keeping justice and national interest above all.

We reiterate once again that the people of Afghanistan cannot tolerate any oppression and loss of their dear ones. This nation is deceived multiple times, but no more! Enough is Enough!
